But with AFA Station, we’re pushing the envelope as to what can be done to bring the festival experience, our customers have come to love us for, online.” Chin also hoped that the platform would be able to bring the latest and best content from Japan to Southeast Asia. In April, AFA held online event AFA United, streamed live via its website. The event featured various voice actors, singers, musicians, bands and cosplayers. Initiated in 2008 in Singapore, AFA is among the most prominent Japanese pop culture events. Its first installment in Indonesia was held in 2012, drawing a large crowd as fans could meet with like-minded enthusiasts, buy merchandise and watch Japanese musicians perform all in one place. Di tahun 2022 ini, AnimeToku diadakan di Mall of Indonesia, Jakarta Utara, mulai dari tanggal 14 hingga 23 Januari. Selama event berlangsung, yang paling mengundang pengunjung ialah sesi foto bersama dengan cosplayer-cosplayer anime Jepang, superhero, dan karakter video game. Pengumuman tersebut dirilis di akun Instagram resmi AnimeToku pada pukul 2348 WIB, Sabtu 22 Januari 2022. Pasalnya, pada hari Sabtu beberapa staf satgas covid yang berpatroli di MOI Mall of Indonesia sudah mengarahkan para cosplayer untuk tidak berfoto di sekitar exhibition booth di lantai dasar karena dapat menghalangi pelanggan, dan menyarankan untuk berfoto di lantai satu. Menuju petang, kerumunan tak terelakkan sehingga kontes cosplay yang seharusnya diadakan hari Sabtu sore dibatalkan.
